1. Link and foster relationships between inventors and innovators. Invention and innovation require different skills rarely found in the same person. 2. Don’t ignore “trivial” advances. Major innovations often have small, but profitable beginnings, and then are extended to other fields. 3. Be aware of movements that drive consumer interest due to social change, demographics, and contagion. 4. Know every benefit that consumers derive from your products or services, even small, seemingly insignificant ones, and extend these benefits to new advances.
